Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use PTC Coin. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet these requirements.

The Platform is available to creators worldwide, with primary services designed for Canadian creators. Certain features may be limited by your location.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate and up-to-date account information
• Notifying us immediately at support@ptccoin.ca if you suspect unauthorised access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for fraudulent purposes.

3. What PTC Coin Does

PTC Coin provides the following services:

IP Registration & Timestamping

When you register a creative work, we:

• Compute a SHA-256 cryptographic hash of your file (locally in your browser — your file is not transmitted to our servers unless you choose to upload it)
• Record that hash and a timestamp on the Polygon blockchain
• Issue you a PTC Certificate with a unique certificate ID
• Make a public verification page available at /proof/[your-id]

Secure Storage (Optional)

You may optionally upload your creative work file for encrypted, private storage. Stored files are accessible only to you.

Certificates & Proof

Your PTC Certificate serves as evidence of the existence of a specific version of your work at a specific point in time. It is a timestamped record, not a legal copyright registration.

4. Important Limitations

• Copyright arises automatically in Canada and most countries upon creation of an original work. You do not need to register it anywhere.
• PTC Coin certificates do not constitute legal copyright registration with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), the U.S. Copyright Office, or any government body.
• A blockchain timestamp is evidence that a specific version of a file existed at a specific time. It supports your claim to priority of creation, but courts determine copyright ownership based on many factors.
• A certificate does not guarantee enforcement. If your work is stolen or plagiarised, you will still need legal counsel to pursue a claim. PTC Coin can provide your certificate as supporting evidence, but we are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.
• Blockchain records are permanent and public. Once a hash is submitted to the Polygon network, it cannot be removed. Do not register works you wish to keep entirely private.

We recommend consulting a Canadian intellectual property lawyer for advice specific to your situation. The Law Society of your province can refer you to one.

5. PTC Tokens

PTC Tokens are utility tokens used within the PTC Coin Platform. They are not a cryptocurrency, investment, or financial instrument.

How Tokens Work

• New accounts receive 5 complimentary PTC Tokens upon sign-up
• Each IP registration costs 1 PTC Token
• Additional tokens may be purchased through the Platform
• Tokens have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts
• Tokens do not expire while your account is active

Token Packages

Token pricing is listed on our Tokens page and subject to change. Current pricing is displayed at checkout.

Refunds

Tokens that have been used for a completed registration cannot be refunded. Unused tokens purchased within 7 days may be refunded if a registration has not been completed. Contact support@ptccoin.ca to request a refund.

6. Payments & Fees

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By providing payment information, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.

Subscription Plans

We offer the following subscription tiers (pricing subject to change; current pricing displayed on our Pricing page):

• Creator Free — No charge; includes starter tokens
• Creator Pro — Monthly subscription; includes tokens and additional features
• Studio — Monthly subscription; expanded for studios and teams
• B2B / Agency — Custom pricing; contact us

Founding Member Pricing

Founding Members who lock in pricing before our first 50 spots are filled will maintain that rate for as long as their subscription remains active and uninterrupted. Founding Member pricing is personal and non-transferable.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused subscription time.

Taxes

Prices shown may not include applicable taxes (GST/HST/QST). Taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout based on your location.

7. Your Content & Intellectual Property

You Own Your Work

You retain all intellectual property rights to any creative work you register through the Platform. Registering with PTC Coin does not transfer any ownership rights to us.

Licence to Us

By using the Platform, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to:

• Process your file to compute a cryptographic hash
• Store your uploaded file if you choose our secure storage option
• Display your certificate information on your public proof page
• Record your hash on the Polygon blockchain

We will not use your creative work for any other purpose.

Your Representations

By registering a work, you represent that:

• You are the creator or authorised rights holder of the work
• The work does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights
• The work does not contain illegal content

Registering a work you do not own or have rights to is a violation of these Terms and may expose you to legal liability.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Register works you do not own or have rights to
• Attempt to falsely claim authorship of another creator's work
• Upload illegal content, including content that infringes copyright, is defamatory, or violates applicable law
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Platform
• Create multiple accounts to fraudulently obtain free tokens
• Use the Platform for money laundering or other financial crimes
• Harass or harm other users

Violations may result in immediate account termination and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting support@ptccoin.ca.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Fail to pay amounts owed
• Use the Platform in a way that harms other users or the Platform

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Blockchain records already created cannot be deleted. Stored files will be deleted within 30 days of account closure.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Canadian law:

• We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
• We do not warrant that blockchain transactions will be processed within any specific time
• We are not responsible for the outcome of any legal dispute in which you use a PTC Certificate as evidence
• Our total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under Canadian consumer protection law.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which PTC Coin operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved in the courts of that province.

If you are a consumer in a province with specific consumer protection legislation, nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under that legislation.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes by:

• Posting the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date
• Sending an email notification to registered users

Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Platform and close your account before the new Terms take effect.
